"The 2015 Símbolo is a field blend from vines ranging from 40 to 60 years in age. It aged for 18 months in new French oak and comes in at 14.3% alcohol. This was bottled about a month before being seen. It was mostly doing rather well, maybe except for the integration of wood. It is, in its youth, fairly drenched in vanilla on the nose. Happily, that got pulled in very quickly. In fact, after 15 minutes I stopped noticing much. It was never as strong on the palate—the mid-palate concentration is very fine." - M.S.
